Having some fun |

The Matata Christmas in the Park put on by the Matata Community Resource Centre and Matata Bluelight was a huge success.
It was well supported by the Matata Community and visitors with the entertainment being fantastic.
We were so lucky to have Brendon Horan as MC, what an entertainer! He sang various Christmas songs and kept things moving along smoothly.
Chris Marks also did a great job with the music, thanks Chris.
The local talent was awesome; we certainly have some talented youth in our community. Thanks for entertaining us all. One of the highlights was a local group of children who performed an awesome hip-hop dance tribute to Stevie- Rae Marks. Shane Haimona was amazing to watch. We need to keep an eye on him in the future, he oozes talent. Also the Leaps and Bounds Hip-Hop group performed two fantastic dances. Thanks girls you were awesome.
Chris Murray, a well-known Whakatane singer, brought along some friends who performed several items. These performers and our own local talented performers all have fantastic voices, once again we need to keep an eye on these kids, they are stars in the making.
The sheep and pig on the spit and sausages fed everyone and were cooked to perfection, well done Tene, Kevin and the team.
Thanks to Richard Hamer from Whakatane REAP, who supplied the sound system,
We would also like to say a really big thank you to the sponsors who helped us putting this together at the last minute, Mighty River Power Kawerau, Matata Eco Tours, REAP, Tui Party Hire, Contract Engineering, NZ Police, Dave and Marg Wright, LJ Hooker Whakatane and Annie Maloney. You guys ROCK!!
Once again a big thank you to all the talented performers and to the Matata Community for a great Matata Christmas in the Park. Without you it would not have been such a huge success.
