The Matata Lagoon Walkway is now a year old and planning on looking even better

Thanks to the time and effort put in by our JV Partners, the Department of Conservation and the EnVBOP Environment Enhancement Fund, we recently undertook the lastest round of weed control.

Sue, one of our two Resource Centre Coordinators, is busily completing all the neccesary paperwork for our planned bird hide.

We encourage everyone to use the walkway as a way of demonstrating committment to beautifying Matata. The number of people using the walkway over the summer holiday period as well as the larger number of fit and healthy people locals utilising the walkway every day continues to give us cause for celebration.

The Walkway is continually evolving as we look at ways to encourage environmental and educational awareness in our community and the wider Whakatane District.

The positive feedback we have received from the website assists us in making our small coastal town a progressive community.
